Our Mission

The mandate of the Community Capacity Building Network (CCBN) is to support the creation of socially inclusive environments to effectively allow Black youth, seniors, and women to access technical and soft skills.  Our success as an organization is connected to our vision for a society that continuously builds the capacity of all individuals regardless of their color and social affiliations.

Vision

CCBN achieves its mandate and upholds its vision by providing direct services to as many as 150 Black community members annually.  These services include:

  1. Facilitating the transfer of employment and business knowledge to Black and immigrant youth and young adults.
  2. Increasing accessibility to social programming for Black seniors to improve their community engagement, connect with peers to combat social isolation, loneliness and access to information sharing workshops in areas of assistive technology, mental health awareness, elder abuse, and financial protection and combat social isolation and loneliness.
  3. Providing a social and advocacy support system for Black women impacted by violence and connect them with appropriate social and justice systems.
  4. Delivery of nutritional food and personal protective equipment to vulnerable Black and visible minority families to combat food insecurity.

WOMEN'S PROGRAMS

As part of Community Capacity Building Network effort to support women, we strives to build coalitions of support to advance the lives of Black and visible minority women in our community by addressing gender-based disadvantages while tapping the existing resources within our communities.

This program focuses on two main services:

This service builds toward establishing a victim advocate program that supports survivors of sexual and domestic violence throughout the justice process. It aims to enhance and formalize partnerships with key criminal justice services, such as police, government victim services, and other community agencies to ensure the right of women.…..read more >>

The service creates healthy and safe learning spaces for Black youth to dismantle and challenge rape culture and sexual violence within the Black community. The need of our senior’s program focuses on the recognition that as the aging population in
Black communities continuing to grow, the increase of COVID-19 pandemic, experiences of financial hardship,  isolation and loneliness has negatively impact Black and visible minority

The Community Capacity Building Network (CCBN) is supported by the Government of Canada’s Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative and the Tropicana Community Services. This funding through the Tropicana Community Services will provide Community Capacity Building Network. Focused training of Board of Directors, Executive leadership, and volunteers to ensure organization operational effectiveness and efficiency.
